Safety for small children and the elderly

General principles

Safety for small children and the elderly

Safety for small children and the elderly: avoid sharp corners and edges throughout the house as much as possible; opening a cabinet should not hit the legs and cause scrapes or bleeding.

Suggestion

Round off the corners of walls, ceilings, doors, tables, kitchen, cabinets, built-ins and appliances; round the edges of cabinets and tables or set them at a suitable height so that opening a cabinet does not hit the legs; best not to use metal cabinet doors. At rounded spots you can add the idea of fabric or soft material covering (e.g. built-in seating on the stair steps...).
